The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, AZ October 10, 2006 David E. Sobley, 75, a long-time resident of Cornville, died Sept. 30, 2006. David was born on Oct. 14, 1930, in Bisbee, the youngest of Louis and Susie Sobley's three sons. David and his family moved to Jerome in 1939 and later settled in Cornville in 1942. David attended the Cornville School, where he met Patricia Jo Greenwell, and later graduated from the Clemenceau High School. As children David and Patricia became the best of friends and later married on Nov. 17, 1951. Following their marriage, David worked at the Garrison Ford Garage and in 1960 began working at the Cement Plant. After 28 years of service, he retired. Among many things that David enjoyed were social events with his family and antique collecting were his favorites. He is survived by his wife Pat of 54 years, his daughters Hazel Heydorn (Vance) and Louise Badger (Duane) both of Cornville, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A private memorial service will be Oct. 7. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to the American Cancer Society will be gratefully accepted at (800) 227-2345.
