GOPPOCK, George Edward


The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, AZ October 11, 2006 George Edward Coppock, 81, of Cottonwood, died Oct.4, 2006. George was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Chester, Pa., to the late George William and Alma Coppock. George served his country in the U.S. Navy for eight years. Later George worked for Bell Telephone for 35 years. After retirement George and Emma served together as missionaries in Haiti, the Bahamas, Key West, Fla., South Dakota, and Fairbanks, Alaska. George was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7200 in Cottonwood. George is survived by his wife Emma Coppock of Cottonwood; his children Edward Coppock of Bellfonte, Pa., Jeff Coppock of Cottonwood, and Deborah Coppock of Sidman, Pa.; 53 foster children; his adopted children, Sharon Montag, Larry and Sandra Ross, Bryan Penworth and Karen Hersom; and 3 grandchildren. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Verde Valley Church of the Nazarene 1710 S. 260, Cottonwood, with Reverend Cunningham officiating. Bueler Funeral Home assisted the family.
