Virginia J. Lopez, 83, died Dec. 6, 2006, in Winslow. She was born March 18, 1923, in Peralta, N.M., to Selanio and Eva (Alderte) Ono.
Mrs. Lopez was married to the late Guadalupe A. Lopez Sr., and together they owned and operated a hometown bar, Arrowhead Liquors, for more than 45 years. Mrs. Lopez's daily life was filled with God and the love for her family. She loved to travel and experienced trips to Rome, Germany, Hawaii and casino trips. For many years she was involved in the Cursillo Movement.
Mrs. Lopez is survived by two sons, Guadalupe A. Lopez Jr. and Gilbert Lopez; daughters, Irene ( Boney) Candelaria and Sandra Reyes; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous, nieces, nephews and godchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Chavez; stepfather, Jose Egnacio; sister, Catherine Aragon; and her brother, Joe Ono.
Holy Rosary will be recited Saturday, Dec. 9, at 9:30 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 9, at 10 a.m., at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with Father Frank Chacon, celebrant. Interment will follow in Desert View Cemetery.
