Today's News-Herald, Lake havasu City, Arizona - Published Saturday, February 12, 2011 - William Downs, 84, passed away Feb. 5, 2011, at his home in Lake Havasu City. He was born to Ferdinand and Gertrude (Hawkhead) Downs April 13, 1926, in Pawtucket, R.I. Bill, as he was known to his family and friends, was a proud survivor of World War II, having served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1947. He is survived by his loving wife, Dianne Downs; sons, Bill Downs Jr., Jeff Almer, Randy Almer and Marc Zadra; daughters, Donna Steward, Shannon Almer and Tracie Collins; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Keely Zadra; grandson, Billy Steward; and great granddaughter, Aaralyn Grace. There will be a celebration of life with family and close friends at a later date. Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com.
