Deanna was born in Great Falls, Mont., on Jan. 22, 1940, to Deloris Goulet and Duard Ross-miller. She grew up on the Boot-legger Trail, north of Great Falls, in the Knees community. As a child, she enjoyed spending time with her grandmother, Eleanor, who taught her to knit, sew and crochet. She graduated in 1957 from Great Falls Central Catholic High School. After high school, she attended Great Falls Com-mercial College. She worked for a Dodge dealer, Montana Hard-ware, and then as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell. She married Roy "Bert" White-house Jr. on May 17, 1958, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Soon after, the couple relocated back and forth from Great Falls and Helena until 1960, when they made their home in Helena. Deanna worked for Mountain Bell until the couple started their family. Roy and Deanna had three boys: Scott, Todd and Bryan. While raising their boys in He-lena, Deanna worked for Shodair Children's Hospital in the public-ity department from 1975 to 1988. Deanna also worked for the United States Census Bureau. In 1990, the military transferred Roy to Missoula, and she followed soon after.
