Passed - Feb. 1, 2011 in Quartzite, Arizona. Rick passed unexpectedly while on one of his favorite adventures to Quartzite, Arizona. He grew up in Salt Lake City, graduating in 1962 from Olympus High School, continuing his education at the U of U, where he was an enthusiastic member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity, graduating in 1967. He served a mission to England. Preceded in death by his parents Ray E. Battison and Helen Maughn Mildon, children Russell Nielsen and Robin Busio, and granddaughter, Rachel Rockwell, Torrey Edwards. Rick retired from the D. & R.G.R. after 33 years. Rick enjoyed the adventure of the outdoors in fishing and going to many Rendezvous' in Utah and Wyoming. He was very active in the community doing volunteer work for the City of Midvale and serving in his community doing what he loved to do. He was always going to the various Senior Centers and spending time teaching and learning all that each had to offer. He loved working in his yard to his remodeling his and Barbara's home which was on going. When he was 12 years old he was the youngest Eagle Scout which was one of his many achievements and successes in the State of Utah. Rick was fun loving and adventuresome who above all loved his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Barbara whom he married on Nov. 8, 1975 who is the love of his life, his brother Craig (Carol), his son Robert, grandchildren Ezra, Layce, Joshua and Russell, great-grandchildren - Tessa, Paige, Kaden, Kevin and Malaki and son Tarren Edwards, grandchildren - Tori, Taylor, and Tynan. A memorial service will be held on February 14, 2011, Midvale Senior Center, 350 W. Park St. (7610 S.), Midvale, UT at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Trans West Credit Union in Richard Battison's name for a memorial.
