Lester Leon Williams, 89, of Wittmann died May 14 in Humana Hospital, Desert Valley, Phoenix.
Mr. Williams was born May 26, 1902 in Fraser, Iowa. He moved to Arizona in 1972 from Rock Springs, Wyoming.
He was a retired coal miner and trona mine fire boss from Rock Springs.
Mr. Williams married the former Ada P. Lee in Rock Springs in 1935. She preceded him death in 1965. In 1966 he married Mary McFadden in Rock Springs and they established a home in Circle City. She preceded him in death in 1974. In 1990 he married Hazel Iness of Wittmann.
Mr. Williams was a U.S. Army veteran, and was a member of the American Legion, Kellis-Draper Post of Wickenburg; and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Oddfellows and the Moose Lodge, all in Rock Springs.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel; two daughters, Beverly Williams of Yarnell and Avis Osborn of Circle City; two step-daughters, Linda Bowling of Riverdale, California and Connie Johnson of Marysville, California; a son, Don Williams of Sacramento, California; and six step-sons, Roger Shelby and Lonnie, Alan, Keith, Troy and Gerald Nichols, all of Wittmann. Two sisters, 30 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren also survive him.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 19 at the Sunwest Funeral Home in El Mirage. Burial followed in the National Cemetery in Phoenix.
