TALIAFERRO, William (Richard)


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ May 27, 1992, p. 2 William “Richard” Taliaferro, 81, of Wickenburg died May 26 in Wickenburg Community Hospital. Mr. Taliaferro was born July 26, 1910 in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky. He had lived in Arizona for the past eight years. Mr. Taliaferro was a graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College and the University of Cincinnati, with a degree in landscape architecture. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Taliaferro was a member of one of the first families to settle in northern Kentucky. He was a retired landscape architect, and owned and operated the Mt. Pleasant Gardens in Ft. Thomas for 43 years. He was past president and life member of the Kentucky Nurserymen’s Association, past district governor of the American Association of Nurserymen, a member of the Cincinnati Landscape Association, and a Kentucky Colonel, which is an organization which does public service work to promote the state of Kentucky. In Wickenburg, Mr. Taliaferro was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a member of the Desert Caballeros, the Desert Stags, the Wickenburg Country Club, the Nature Conservancy, and the Desert Caballeros Western Museum. He was life member of the Wickenburg Lions Club. Memorial services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, May 28 at the First Presbyterian Church of Wickenburg. Rev. James Longstreet will officiate.
