CHAVEZ, Melesio R.


The Arizona Republic Phoenix, Arizona ~ 2/17/2011 Melesio R. Chavez 75, passed away in Tucson Friday, February 11. He was born in Hayden March 14, 1935, and resided there his entire life. A brick mason supervisor, Mr. Chavez labored 32 years at ASARCO, 14 of which in the supervisory capacity. He served in the U.S. Army 1958 to 1960 in Germany. Also serving in the town council for Hayden 20 years, he was the First, Second and Third Mayor of the town. Two sons are living: Stephen L. (Cecilia) of Coolidge and Orlando L. of Tucson. There are four brothers and one sister: Frank (Esther), Jose (Carmen), Salvador, O.R. Rex (Angie), and Angelina Torres. The two grandsons are named Carlos and Orlando Chavez. Friday, February 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church a Rosary will be recited at 10:30 A.M., with the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Dale Branson at 11. Interment is to be at Mountain view Cemetery. Griffith Mortuary assisted
