(Maiden Name: Collier)

Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Published Thursday, February 17, 2011 - Joy Modell McClure, 84, passed away Feb. 6, 2011 in Lake Havasu City. She was born April 16, 1926 in Hale Center, Texas to William Pierce (Buddie) and Audrey Sanders Collier. After finishing high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Emmet Leroy (Mac) McClure, who had just returned from serving in the Marine Corps during WWII. During their 64 years of marriage, they lived in various states, as many oilfield families did, including Texas, Wyo., Mont., Neb., Utah and finally retiring in Oklahoma. Joy was active in the Eastern Star, Dinah Duds and was Guardian Secretary for Jobs Daughters. She was a homemaker, raising four daughters. She loved country music (Garth Brooks), crossword puzzles and a good shoe sale. An avid OU fan, she rarely missed the score of a football or basketball game. One of Joy's most admirable accomplishments was the loss of over 200 inches through the Tan and Tone program. She began this program after the age of 75 and was an inspiration to all who knew her. Joy made friends easily as she never met a stranger and everyone received a hug. Her feisty spirit will be missed. She is survived by her four daughters: Karen (Gary) Kampschoror, Barbara McClure, Ginger McClure, Nancy (Gary) Richardson; seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren with a sixth on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mac; an infant daughter, Beverly; her parents and two brothers, Jack Collier and Dr. Gene Collier. Services were held Tues. Feb. 15, 2011 at Resthaven Funeral Home, Oklahoma City and interment following at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Okla.
