George H. Billingsley, a Wickenburg High School graduate whose family owned the first dairy farm in Wickenburg, died June 8 in the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Prescott. He was 75.
Mr. Billingsley was a native of Congress, born July 16, 1916.
His parents, Cecil and Isie (Backus) Billingsley, had moved to Congress in 1906 when his father went to work for the Congress Mine. The family homesteaded in the Pedmont area and owned the OX Cattle Co. outside of Congress.
Mr. Billingsley and his wife Doris also farmed in the Duncan, Arizona area before retiring to Peeples Valley.
He was a former member of the Hassayampa Masonic Lodge 37 in Wickenburg, the Phoenix Scottish Rite Bodies, The Arizona Cattlemen’s Association and the Congress School Board.
Mr. Billingsley was a veteran of the United States Army Corps, serving in the 434th Fighter Control Squadron, the Eighth Air Force in the European Theatre during World War II, from December 1941 – August 1945. He was a Staff Sergeant when he was discharged.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Doris; son and daughter-in-law George and Susan Billingsley of Flagstaff; son and daughter-in-law Mike and Cathy Billingsley of Wickenburg; daughter Kay Nozicka of Phoenix; brother and sister-in-law Cecil and Charlotte Billingsley of Cornville, Arizona; sister Lucille Templeton of Paradise Valley; sister and brother-in-law Ruth and Leonard Pemberton of Prescott Valley; grandsons Michael and Ryan and granddaughters, Jody, Marijka and Lisa.
Private family graveside services were held at the Genung Cemetery in Peeples Valley.
Military honors were provided by the Yarnell American Legion Post 79.

Arrangements were made by Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home in Prescott.
