Frank H. Sisson of Aguila died July 29 in San Jose, California. He was 80.
His more than 50-year career in the construction industry began in the 1930’s when he learned carpentry in the CCC and concluded in 1986 with the building of his shop and home in Aguila.
During the years, Mr. Sisson’s efforts spanned a wide range of projects, from housing ship-builders in Richmond, California, for the government during World War II to custom homes and then tract developments in Las Vegas and for Stone and Schulte in San Jose.
His interests exceeded that of his intensive career in construction. A lover of the outdoors, he was involved in sports as an activity for children, hunting, home farming and animals. The more earthly pursuits he balanced with an abiding interest in music, nurturing a similar interest in his children.
Mr. Sisson was an innovator with a keen and practical sense for improving human productivity in his field. A number of his innovations are still used in the construction industry. He was also an early pioneer of modular construction in the Pizza Hut restaurant chain, a practice that’s widely used by them today.
He is survived by his wife Elsie; his former wife Ruth; sons Jerry of San Jose and Joe of Sacramento; their wives and children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held under the direction Oak Hill Funeral Home in San Jose.
Private interment is at the Oak Hill Memorial Park.
