ALLEN, Ruth Bertha

The Wickenburg Sun Wickenburg, AZ September 16, 1992, p. 2 Ruth Bertha Allen of Wickenburg, a 75-year resident of Arizona, died September 11 in Wickenburg. She was 92. Mrs. Allen was born in Farmers Branch Texas, on October 23, 1899. A homemaker and member of the VFW, she was considered an Arizona pioneer coming to Arizona as a girl in a covered wagon. She met William Allen in Wilcox, AZ. They were married in Phoenix, September 30, 1919 by Judge R. C. Stanford. They moved to Wickenburg in 1931 where they raised their three children. She was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1967 and son, Roy in 1960. Mrs. Allen is survived by a son, John Allen of Congress, AZ and a daughter Lois Shelstad, of Long Beach, California; 3 grandchildren, Wanda Robinson of Parker, AZ, Shirley Meyer of California and Barbara Arnold of Bullhead City, AZ; 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Tuesday, September 15 at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. Rev. Patrick Harris officiated. Frey Funeral Home of Wickenburg assisted the family with the arrangements.
