Samuel Casey of Port Edwards, Wisconsin and a winter resident at Rancho de los Caballeros, Wickenburg died October 15, 1992 at Riverview Hospital, Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin where he had been a patient since October 6.
Memorial services were held October 19, at United Methodist Church, Port Edwards, of which he was a member, with burial in the Port Edwards Cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Boettcher officiated.
Mr. Casey was born September 10, 1914 in Peoria, Illinois to Richard and Chloris Casey. He married Ardean Alexander November 7, 1942, in Port Edwards.
He served in the Army from 1942-46, with half of the time spent in the Counterintelligence Corps.
Mr. Casey joined Nekoosa Edwards Papers Co. in 1948 as a lawyer and later became president and chief executive officer. He was the company’s fourth president since its incorporation in 1908 and remained so until 1974, when he became chairman and president. He retired in 1980.
Mr. Casey was a member of several organizations in the community of Port Edwards. He was a longtime member of the board of directors of the John E. Alexander South Wood YMCA in Port Edwards.
Survivors include his wife Ardean, son John of Milwaukee; two daughters, Suzanne Kupper of California and Page Clark of Port Edwards; and eight grandchildren.
Memorials may be designated to John Alexander South Wood County YMCA, Riverview Health Care Foundation or the United Methodist Church of Port Edwards.
Ritchey Funeral Home of Wisconsin Rapids handled the arrangements.
