I.E. “Russ” Russell, a 31-year resident of Wickenburg, died at his home on Tuesday, November 10, 1992. He was 81.
Mr. Russell was born in Arkansas and his family moved to Iowa when he was a young child. He was an Iowa farmer until 1961 when he moved his family to Wickenburg. Mr. Russell owned a star mail route and later drove for Holsum Bakery. In 1973 he went to work for Agro Aguila Ranch as a parts buyer and remained there until his retirement in 1979.
Upon retirement, Russ enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was part of the group known as “The Over the Hill Riders.” He remained active in politics, riding his motorcycle and taking his early morning 3-mile walk until ill health forced him to reduce his activities in June of this year. Up to the time of his death, Russ enjoyed having young people around him and felt strongly about the youth of today.
Mr. Russell was cremated and his ashes will be buried in Iowa. At his request, no memorial services were held.
Mr. Russell is survived by his wife, Clara of Wickenburg, daughter Sandy Cather, son Bruce and granddaughters, Cammie and Nicki Cather all of San Diego, California.
