Wilbur L. Thorne of Wickenburg died January 10 at Del Webb Hospital in Sun City West. He was 66.
Mr. Thorne was born January 31, 1927 in Owen, Wisconsin and moved with his family to Wickenburg in 1966.
While living in Wisconsin, Mr. Thorne was employed by Western Condensing and Foremost Dairies, where he was Union Steward for the local Teamsters.
He served on the Board of Education at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
In Wickenburg, Mr. Thorne was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, where he served terms of President and Treasurer.
He served in the Navy during World War II and was Quartermaster for Wickenburg VFW Post 2862.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 15, at 10 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Frey Funeral Home.
Mr. Thorne is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marjorie; daughters and their husbands, Pamela and Mark Wiebelhaus of Highlands Ranch, Colorado and Ruth and Joseph Gray of Prescott; grandchildren, Ira and Chad Cray and Sarah Wiebelhaus; brother and his wife, Donald and Harriet Thorne of Owen, Wisconsin; sister and her husband, Joyce and Arnold Ellis of Arkdale, Wisconsin; two nieces; five nephews; and many cousins.
Mr. Thorne was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Bernice Thorne and brother, Floyd.
Frey Funeral Home in Wickenburg handled the arrangements.
