WILCOX, William (Art)


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ January 19, 1994, p. 3 William “Art” Wilcox of Bagdad died January 15 at his home. He was 86. Mr. Wilcox was born November 12, 1907 in Luna, New Mexico and had lived in Bagdad since 1951. He had been employed by the Cyprus Bagdad Copper Company for 23 years as a diamond drill operator and retired from the company in 1973. Mr. Wilcox was a former member of the Prescott Elks Lodge 330 and the Lions Club of Bagdad. He was initiated into the Bagdad Lodge 54 F. & A.M. on December 15 1959 and was a member there until the lodge consolidated with the Hassayampa Lodge 37 of Wickenburg, where his membership remains. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies of Tucson. Mr. Wilcox enjoyed fishing and hunting. He also had been a musician, playing the steel guitar at the Palace, Hassayampa and Green Frog in Prescott and for dances in Bagdad. He is survived by his wife Jackie; daughter Dolores Payne of Scottsdale; grandson, Glen Bringle and granddaughters DeAnn Wilson and Charlene Bringle. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. today (Wednesday, January 19) and continue until service time. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home in Prescott. Officers and members of the Aztlan Lodge 1 F. & A.M. will officiate with Ted Snowden serving as acting master. Burial will be at the Mountain View Cemetery in Prescott. Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home in Prescott handled the arrangements.
