The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ January 26, p. 2 Sheldon F. Fillenworth of Wickenburg died January 22. He was 88. Mr. Fillenworth was born October 7, 1905 in Motley, Minnesota. He had lived in Arizona for 14 years, coming from Colorado. He attended elementary school in Country School, six miles southwest of Staples; then high school in Staples, Minnesota, through the 10th grade. He then moved to Mason City, Iowa, where he graduated high school. He then moved to Iowa City, Iowa and attended the University of Iowa, graduating with a B.S. in 1927. Mr. Fillenworth married Birdie (Tommie) Thomas on January 23, 1927. He taught school in Richland, Iowa until May 30, 1930 and was then employed as a salesman with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company until January 19, 1970, during which time he worked in Dubuque, Iowa, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Cheyenne, Wyoming and Denver, Colorado. Mr. Fillenworth is survived by his wife of 66 years, Tommie, and his daughter Carol Burke of Wickenburg. He was preceded in death by his son Charles in 1987 and his parents Frank and Dollie. There will be no services. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Arizona Division, Wickenburg Unit, P. O. Box 1975, Wickenburg, AZ 85358. Arrangements were handled by the Frey Funeral Home.
