John M. Beals of Wickenburg died April 9 in Wickenburg. He was 83.
Mr. Beals was born May 22, 1910 in Pasadena, California and had lived in Arizona for three years, moving here from California.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Wickenburg.
Mr. Beals was an accountant for Kaiser Steel for more than 20 years. He had a great love of music, playing the clarinet and saxophone from the age of 15 until just before his death.
He was well known in the Wickenburg area by playing his saxophone at the Wise Owl and the Wickenburg Community Nursing Home. Mr. Beals played Concert Band, Big Band and Dixieland Band and traveled on two world tours.
He is survived by daughters Marilyn McDaniel of Wickenburg and Vicki VanDenHandel of Burbank, California; sister Ethel Persing of Boulder City, Nevada; grandchildren Debbie Palmer of Tucson and Becky and Brenda McDaniel of Wickenburg; great-grandchildren Lea Palmer of Tucson and his fiancé Peggy Baker of Wickenburg. He was preceded in death by his first wife Frances in 1990.
Services have been held, and Pastor James Longstreet officiated. Interment will be in Pomona, California.
Frey Funeral Home of Wickenburg handled the arrangements.
