The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ April 27, 1994, p. 2 George Washington Campbell Sr. of Salome died April 22 in Wickenburg. He was 87. Mr. Campbell was born July 2, 1906 in Captain, New Mexico and had lived in Arizona for 75 years, moving here from New Mexico. He was an electrician by trade but a mine operator for more than 60 years. He worked at the Vulture Mine, Bee Hive Mine in Congress, Harquahala Mine, Henry Bell Mine and met his wife Annie while working at the Swansee Mine. He loved his grandchildren and spent much of his time with them while they were growing up. He also loved fishing and collecting various minerals. Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife of 64 years, Annie; grandsons Jeffrey Neil Campbell of Salome and Jayson Reed Campbell of Washington, D.C.; granddaughters Robin Michelle Altergott of Henderson, Nevada and Kimberly Lynne Campbell of Kingman, Arizona and five great-grandchildren. Services have been held, and interment was at the Brown Family Cemetery in Salome. Rev. Allen Billington officiated. Memorial contributions may be made to Tri-Valley Medical Center in Salome. Frey Funeral Home in Wickenburg handled the arrangements.
