MCFARLAND, Harry D. (Mac)


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ May 11, 1994, p. 2 Harry D. (Mac) McFarland of Wickenburg died May 2 at Community Hospice at Camelot in Peoria. He was 62. Mr. McFarland was born March 28, 1932 in Williamson, Iowa and had lived in Arizona for seven years. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1971 as a S.F.C. after serving 22 years. During his military years, he served tours of duty in Okinawa, Greenland, Germany and Alaska. Mr. McFarland returned to Williamson in 1971 to live. He worked for V.A. Medical Center in Knoxville for 12 years as an ingredient Control Clerk in the main kitchen until 1984, earning several awards. He moved to Wickenburg in 1987. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2564 in Chariton, Iowa, a member of American Legion Post 12 for seven years and Elks Lodge 2160 for two years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and outdoor cooking. Mr. McFarland is survived by his wife of 32 years, Virginia, of Wickenburg; sons Paul of Akron, Iowa, David of Sioux City, Iowa; Brian and wife Toni and George and wife Mary – all of Wickenburg; sisters Delores of Moline, Illinois and Nona of Knoxville, Iowa; brother Dick of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George. Private services have been held. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Memorial Foundation, P.O.
