MARTIN, Joseph (Joe)


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ June 1, 1994, p. 2 Joseph “Joe” Martin of Salome died May 20 in Lake Havasu City. He was 77. Mr. Martin was born May 27, 1916 in Frankfort, Germany and had lived in Arizona for 20 years moving here from California. He was an accomplished pilot, sea Captain and gemologist. He and his wife worked closely with state and federal governments in starting a halfway house in Northern California. There, they worked to help those who had made mistakes and were trying to right a wrong. His notoriety came as a result of having a 72 percent success rate of rehabilitating those he helped. Mr. Martin is survived by daughter Valli Moran; grandchildren Renee and Christopher and great-grandchild Dustin, all of Independence, California; and estranged daughter Lori Alverez. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Martin’s name to the American Diabetes Association, Arizona Affiliate, Ind., 2328 W. Royal Palm Rd., Suite D, Phoenix, Arizona 85021. Frey Funeral Home in Wickenburg handled the arrangements.
