Jerry M. Johnson of Congress died May 27 in Wickenburg. He was 81.
Mr. Johnson was born May 21, 1913 in Livingston, Arizona and had lived in Arizona for 50 plus years.
He retired in 1969 after serving 10 years with the U.S. Forest Service in Gila County, Arizona and 25 years with the Naval Civil Service insane Diego, California. He also serviced as a San Diego County Sheriff Deputy Reserve.
Mr. Johnson was also a 50-year member of the White Mountain Masonic Lodge in Globe and a Protestant. He enjoyed Botany, having studied it for two years at the University of Arizona and gardening, the outdoors and writing.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marguerite; daughter Judith Davis of Jamul, California, Sharon Burgee of Congress and Rebecca Anderson of Royal Palm Beach, Florida; brother, Isaac A. Johnson of Palm Springs, California; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A gathering of remembrance by family and friends was held Monday, May 30 at the Johnson home in Congress. Pastor Larry Dittberner officiated.
