George Alexander Walker of Circle City died June 4 in Wickenburg. He was 78.
Mr. Walker was born March 10, 1916 in Augusta, Georgia and had lived in Arizona for 20 years.
A World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Air Force, he was a lifetime member of the VFW. Mr. Walker also was a member of the Catholic Church.
He is survived by sons James and William Walker of Phoenix and Joseph and George Anthony Walker of Springfield, Missouri; daughters Sandra Kay Ladner, Marybeth Hartley and Jean Wilson all of Gulfport, Mississippi and Valerie Ann Harmon of Phoenix; sister Mary L. Lamar of Augusta, Georgia; brother William L. Lamar of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Valerie in 1979.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday, June 8) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with vigil services held at 6 p.m. at Wickenburg Funeral Home. Services will be held Thursday (June 9 )at 8 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 99th Avenue and Thomas Road in Phoenix at 11 a.m. Father Mathew Mampara will officiate.
Wickenburg Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
