Lonie Clifton “Ray” Stanifer of Morristown died June 18 in Morristown. He was 67.
Mr. Stanifer was born January 17, 1927 in London, Kentucky and had lived in Arizona for 18 years.
He owned and operated the Hassaymapa River Trading Post in Morristown for 18 years. Mr. Stanifer also served in the Naval Air Force from 1944 to 1946.
He was a dedicated rider with the Desert Caballeros Remuda Camp and had earned his 10 year pin during this year’s ride.
Mr. Stanifer is survived by his wife, Lois Joan; daughters Deborah Fike and Teri Durfee, both of Phoenix; son Michael J. Stanifer of Morristown; sisters Gene Sizemore of London, Kentucky and Aileen Kenshol of Fresno, California; brothers Robert of South Bend, Indiana and Harry of Bremen, Indiana; and grandchildren Maudie Deaton, Amanda, Billy and Danny Durfee and Sara Joanne Stanifer. He was preceded in death by his eldest son Lonnie Ray Stanifer in 1969.
Memorial services will be held Thursday (June 23) at 10 a.m. at Wickenburg Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will be at the Morristown Cemetery.
