Ms. Shipley was born February 24, 1914 in Anna, Illinois and had lived in Arizona for 30 years, moving here from Illinois. She was employed from 1970 to 1984 at Benner-Nawman, Inc. After her retirement, she opened Memories and More Antique Store in Wickenburg, operating the store until six months ago. She was involved with the Desert Caballeros Western Museum and a member of the Mountain View Christian Church. She was a member of the Wickenburg Chapter of business and Professional Women (BPW) for more than 20 years and had held several offices both locally and in the state level, including a two-year consecutive term as president of the Wickenburg BPW. She enjoyed collectibles and antiques of all types. Ms. Shipley is survived by her companion Arthur Mayberry of Wickenburg; sisters, Frances Bloompot and Darlene Hill, both of Peoria, Illinois and Charlene Cole of Shreveport, Louisiana; brother Charles Hill of Olney, Illinois; several nieces and nephews, including William Warren of Wickenburg. She was preceded in death by her parents Oliver and Lela and four brothers. Services will be at Frey Funeral Home Saturday (June 25) at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Wickenburg Municipal Cemetery. Pastor Roger Daggett will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made in Lela’s name to a charity of one’s choice. Frey Funeral Home in Wickenburg handled the arrangements.
