The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ July 6, 1994, p. 2 Gene H. Helmsworth of Wickenburg died June 28 in Wickenburg. He was 81. Mr. Helmsworth was born January 28, 1913 in Mandan, North Dakota and had lived in Arizona for 18 years moving here from California. He was a member of the Wickenburg Lion’s Club, the Experimental Aircraft Association, the OX-5 Club and was on the Board of Directors of the Rincon Fire District. He was also a lifetime member of the BPOE 1256 in Mandan. Mr. Helmsworth was a pilot since 1933 and loved flying. He was a retired engineer from Hughes Aircraft and was a member of the U.S. Army, serving in World War II. Mr. Helmsworth is survived by his wife of 51 years, Vivian, of Wickenburg; daughter Ann Helmsworth of Orange, California; sons Gene Helmsworth of Orange and Raymond Helmsworth of Franklin, Tennessee; and six grandchildren. Memorial services were held July 1 in Congress. Pastor Bob Harrison officiated. Graveside services and interment will be held at a later date in Mandan. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Helmsworth’s name to a charity of one’s choice. Frey Funeral Home in Wickenburg handled the arrangements.
