Donald G. Pelley 71, of Tucson, Arizona, died Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Tucson after an extended illness.
Born in Ashtabula, Ohio, July 17, 1939, to Donald and Alma Pelley, Don was an outstanding student at Harbor High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physics and mathematics from Ohio State University in 1962. At one time an accomplished pianist and guitarist, Don continued his interest in music and the arts, and he especially enjoyed the Tucson Symphony. Other interests were skiing, tennis, computer science, and travel.
A respected and beloved high school teacher of mathematics for two years in Dayton, Ohio, Don later entered the relatively new fields of direct mail marketing, computer systems applications and marketing operations analysis. For the last fifteen years, he owned his own marketing company doing consulting with select companies. A leader in this industry, he had been a featured lecturer at industry conferences and universities including the graduate schools of business of New York University and the University of Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; his son, Scott H. Pelley of Georgia; two sisters, Jane Schroeder of North Carolina and Shirley Nordquest of Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to Tucson Medical Center Hospice Services. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL
