Auswald James “Jim” Woods of Gladden died October 1 in Gladden. He
was 65.
Mr. Woods was born July 9, 1929 in Billings, Montana. He had lived
in Arizona for the past 15 years, moving here from Canada.
Mr. Woods worked as an animal trainer, especially elephants, for 12
years for the Dolly Jacobs Show. Jacobs’ children, Punch and Judy,
up to the present still desired that Mr. Woods train their
elephants. He also worked for approximately seven years in Hawaii
with his own elephant show for Pepsi-Cola.
Mr. Woods earned a doctorate degree in psychology.
He also worked for 18 years in Regina, Canada, for Orville Riley
Enterprises, an oil company. Mr. Woods moved to Arizona in 1978, to
the desert, which he loved.
Survivors include his wife of nine years, Joan Carol Woods of
Gladden; daughter Alisa Woods; sons Clairance and Nicholas Woods;
sister and brother-in-law Janice and Aubrey Morgan of Troy,
Illinois; brothers and sisters-in-law Dale and Maxine Woods of
Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Mike and Lynn Masslock of Tulsa, Oklahoma;
and aunt Blanche Hammond of St. Louis. He was preceded in death by
his parents, John A. and Frances E. (Masslock) Woods.
Private funeral services were conducted.
Frey Funeral Home of Wickenburg was in charge of all arrangements.
