RUBINO, Joseph Anthony

Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Published Sunday, February 27, 2011 - Joseph Anthony Rubino, 71, of Prescott Valley, lost his battle with cancer Feb. 15, 2011. Joe was born May 2, 1939, in Trenton, N.J. He loved music, and played saxophone in a band called the "Rhythmics" that was quite successful for several years. He served in the Marine Reserve and returned to New Jersey to work as the chief clerk for the Mercer County Courthouse Prosecutor’s office. In 1977, he relocated to Lake Havasu City, where he secured a position as a drivers’ license examiner. After retirement, Joe moved to Prescott Valley. To keep busy, he worked at the 99 Cent Store, Liberty Kia, and Shuttle-U. Joe loved music, old movies, travel and video poker. He was most proud of his role as a father, and he raised two happy, successful children on his own. He is survived by his companion, Shirley Yule, Prescott Valley; daughter Toni Ricigliano, Galveston, Texas; daughter Lori Rubino-Hare and Trent Hare, Flagstaff; son, Richard Rubino, Chandler; mother, Mary C. Rubino, 96, Trenton, N.J.; sister, Ann Provenzano, Yardley, Pa.; brother, John A. Rubino Jr., Trenton, N.J.; and sister, Lucille Reading, New Port Richey, Fla. He was predeceased by his father, John A. Rubino Sr. Memorial services will be April 30, at the Prescott VA chapel at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joe’s memory to the Northern Arizona VA Health Care System or the American Cancer Society.
