Joseph "Scott" Ellsworth, 56, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2011, at Flagstaff Medical Center. He was born Nov. 9, 1954, in Phoenix.
Scott and his wife, Mary Beth were both raised in St. Johns, fell in love while children and married at the tender age of 17. Now, 40 years later, he leaves, in addition to his wife, four children and 10 grandchildren: Ryan (Jackie) Jace, Dyllon and Riyan Marie; Spencer (Melissa) Grace, Mary and Faith; Kristen Cummings and daughters Jade and Macy; Sara Ellsworth (DJ Dozier), Asia and Azlyn, as well as Dujay and Deontaue.
Scott is also survived by his mother, Winnie Kolner of Payson; father-in-law Bert Farr, of St. Johns. He leaves his extended family, brothers and sisters who have remained close: Martin Kolner, Betty Ann Kolner, David Ellsworth, Jewell Bluth, Diana Ellsworth and Jeanne Hancock.
Scott and Mary Beth stayed and worked in St. Johns among their many friends and relatives. Early on he worked with his dad on the Ellsworth Angus Ranch, later taking responsibility for the Apache County roads. Through it all he raised his mules and horses and was respected by all for his ranching knowledge and abilities and solved many problems which others brought to him. He was loved by all, but his grandchildren adored him and with good reason - he adored them.
Scott was preceded in death by his bother Craig; father Spencer Ellsworth; half-sister Mary, and his stepfather Ben Kolner.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 26, at the LDS Stake Center in St. Johns. A viewing will be at the mortuary in St. Johns from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25.
