Powetah (P.J.) Jah Murphy died Feb. 5, 2011 at White Mountain Regional Medical Center in Springerville of throat cancer.
She was born Dec. 7, 1936, on the San Carlos Apache Reservation at the bottom of Salt River Canyon. PJ was loved by her family more than life itself. She also loved her dear and close friends. She will be missed by all but never forgotten.
She is survived by her daughters: Rinda M. Justice of Eagar, Sandra L. Bunney of Eagar, and Mischele A. Irvin of Holden, Mo.; grandchildren: April J. Gates of Washington, Christina Justice of Calif., Odessa Dodd of Washington, Christopher Shows of Calif., and La Rinda Shows of Texas, Joshua T. Murphy of Springerville, Emily C. Craig, Cody R. Craig, both of Eagar, Kevin Miller, Justin Miller, both of Holden, Mo.; great-grandchildren: Harley Dodd of Wash., Erin Murphy of Phoenix, Jack G. Murphy, Adam Murphy, both of Springerville, Drake Miller, Sydney Miller, both of Holden, Mo.; sister Ella M. Lauher-K.C. of Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, husband and close dear friends.
Memorial services will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Springerville. The ashes of John F. Murphy and Powetah J. Murphy will be combined together and spread at a later time by family members.

Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 203 E. Apache in Springerville. A potluck will follow the services.
