John E. Hartman, 92, was born Jan. 31, 1919, in Mansfield, Wash. He was the son of Clare G. and Emma Hartman. He moved to Wisconsin in 1919 and then to the Rockford, Ill., area in 1924.
John graduated from Harlem High School in 1937. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and Korean War. He worked at Woodward Govenor Co. for 42 years.
John married Eileen Hoff on June 24, 1966. After retiring from Woodward Govenor on Jan. 1, 1981, John and Eileen moved to N. Ft. Myers, Fla., where they lived for 23 years until moving to Prescott Valley, Ariz., in 2004. John and Eileen celebrated 42 wonderful years of marriage before her death on Aug. 19, 2008. They were former members of Rockford First Assembly of God and Ft. Myers Assembly of God and members of Fountain of Life Assembly of God in Prescott Valley.
He is survived by daughter, Judy Belardinelli; son Greg (Debbie) Hartman; grandchildren Coreena (Garner) Frashefski, Aaron Hartman and Andrew Hartman; stepdaughter Janie Thompson; stepgrandchildren Michael (Diana) MacFarland, Brian MacFarland and Jodi Vurnovas; sister Marjorie Mohr; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; wife Eileen; sisters Lucille MacDougall and Alice Richardson; and brothers Clare, Bill and Bob Hartman.
Memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5, 2011, at Fountain of Life Church in Prescott Valley.
