TALLY, Edgar S., Jr.

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, February 26, 2011 Edgar S. Tally Jr. died Feb. 22, 2011, at Bob Stump VA Medical Center. He was born July 10, 1927, in Douglas, Ga. The youngest son of nine children, his parents were Edgar Sr. and Katie Lee (Simms) Tally. Edgar was 83 years old. Edgar proudly served his country as a Navy medic during World War II. He retired as the Grand Canyon Council of Boy Scouts of America's finance director after working with the Scouts in both Georgia and Arizona. He attended the Word of Life Church, was a past member of the Kiwanis and Rotary clubs in both Phoenix and Mesa, and a member of the Prescott Victorian Society. He enjoyed camping, swimming, old movies and singing the old songs. Edgar is survived by his daughter, Debbie (J.R.) Williams of Prescott, Ariz.; son Douglas (Joni) of Las Vegas, Nev.; sister Kate (Alan) Vestal of McRae, Ga.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A celebration of Edgar's Life will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez, Prescott, Ariz. Private cremation at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley, Ariz. The family suggests memorials to Boy Scouts of America, 4977 Pitava Ct., Prescott, AZ 86301.
