Henry Clyde Brown died Feb. 5, 2011, in the Kindred Hospital in Phoenix. Clyde was born August 21, 1920, to Charles and Lydia Jackson Brown in Cooley (McNary). He was the eighth of 10 children.
He met and married a young lady that he had seen in a dream. She was Nancy Place from Williams. They were married for 70 years, one month and five days. Clyde worked as a cowboy in the White Mountains when a young boy and after marrying Nancy he worked at the McNary sawmill. Later he worked for the Orr Road Construction Co. in Arizona.
Moving to Duncan, he worked for the Phelps Dodge Corp. in Morenci and the Greenlee County Highway Dept. They moved again to Sedona, put in two riding stables, and he worked for the Yavapai Co. Highway Dept. After his retirement, Clyde and Nancy moved to Apache Creek, New Mexico where he continued to cowboy, helping out his ranching neighbors and visiting his many friends.
Clyde leaves his wife, Nancy; daughter, Arlena Brown (Jim) Boggs; son, Ernest Clyde (Nanci) Brown; sisters: Emily Phillips of Glendale, and Mittie Magill of Pinetop; grandchildren: Clyde "Bodie" (Carrie) Hall of Surprise, Ernie Brown of Colorado, Charles Brown of Apache Creek, and Lena Brown (Wesley) Carmon of Cottonwood; eight great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandson Layne Hall.
Graveside services were held Saturday, Feb. 12, at the Apache Creek Cemetery in New Mexico.
