Adrienne Noelle Channing died Feb. 26, 2011. Adrienne overcame multiple schlerosis for 33 years and survived cancer for 2-1/2 years. She has won her battle and transcended this life where there is no pain — only peace. “Adrie will love us from Heaven. She will be loved, she will be missed she will be remembered.”
Adrienne was born Jan. 22, 1949. She was an artist, an animal lover, a lifelong learner, an adventurous spirit, and an inspiration to those who knew and loved her. She was known for her generosity, her creativity, her tender heart, and her quirky sense of humor.
Adrienne loved unconditionally, laughed easily, and forgave willingly. Although wheelchair bound, she lived her life without boundaries; she earned her BA in Communication, raised two daughters and became a dedicated worker.
Adrienne cherished her roles of loving wife, mother, Nana and friend. She faithfully served First Baptist Church in Pinetop, and held Jesus close to her heart. Adrienne was a unique and humble individual with a Bohemian soul, an irreverent zest for life, and a courageous heart. Her art can be seen at www.whitemountainarts.com/Adrienne’sGallery.html.
Adrienne was an active participant in the Arts Alliance of the White Mountains and much of her art is on display at the Show Low Senior Center. On the afternoon of Oct. 10, 2009, the Arts Alliance of the White Mountains presented a unique film in cooperation with Northland Pioneer College. A National Film Board of Canada, documentary, “Lost Garden” about early filmmaker Alice Guy Blaché, and narrated on film by Adrienne, granddaughter of Blaché. This featured documentary was shown to our community in the same month in which it was a part of a Whitney Museum program in New York Film scholar, Alison McMahon, author of the book, “Lost Garden” spoke at the Show Low event to honor Adrienne’s part in this program. This was the first time that many knew of Adrienne’s life before MS.
Services for friends and family will be held Saturday, March 19, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Pinetop.
