Roberta M. Runberg went to be with the Lord March 5, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis.
She was born on May 5, 1932, to Walter and Martha Hassinger in Truesdale, Iowa.
Roberta is survived by her husband of 60 years Thomas; daughters, Linda Brown, of Fullerton, Calif., and Karen Shaver (Steve), of Cornish, Utah; grandchildren, Chris Brown, of Newport Beach, Calif., Trevor Brown, of Fullerton, Calif., and Kimberly Kennedy (Brian), of Camp Hill, Pa.; and great-grandson, Mason Brown, of Newport Beach.
Roberta is also survived by her sisters and brothers, Betty Stirtz (Guy), of Roscoe, Ill., Galen Hassinger (Peggy), of Silver Springs, Md., Doug Hassinger (Linda), of Surprise, Ariz., and Nancy Krebsbach, of Rockton, Ill.
Thomas and Roberta were married Feb. 24, 1951. They lived the first 17 years of their married life in Rockford, Ill., then the family moved to Southern California in 1968, where Roberta worked for and retired from LeJon Corp. Thomas and Roberta moved to Lake Havasu in 1986 where Tom worked for and retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he was a mail carrier.
Roberta loved going to Laughlin, meeting her friends Centa and Angie for coffee daily, and making needlework book covers. She also loved the Lord and reading the Bible daily.
Thomas and Roberta are life-long members of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church where the memorial service will be Saturday, at 10 a.m.
