COMBES, William (Bill)


The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ November 23, 1994, p. 2 William “Bill” Combes of Boise, Idaho and a winter resident of Wickenburg, died November 19 in Wickenburg. He was 85. Mr. Combes was born January 14, 1909 in Storm Lake, Iowa. He had wintered in Wickenburg since 1978. Mr. Combes was raised in Perkins County, South Dakota, moving there with his parents three months after he was born. He was raised on a ranch with his brothers. Mr. Combes taught school in Perkins County for 11 years. A drought brought a move for the family from South Dakota to Idaho, where the family began a dairy business. After retiring, Mr. Combes enjoyed rock hunting in the Arizona desert. He will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father and great-grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Jeannie Combs, of Boise; daughters Marjorie Nystrom of Boise and Lois Taylor of Alameda, California; sons James of Eagle, Idaho, and Robert of Buhl, Idaho; brothers Roy of Ontario, Oklahoma and Ralph of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren Steve Cook of Boise, Belinda Vincent of Caldwell, Idaho; brothers Roy of Ontario, Oklahoma and Ralph of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren Steve Cook of Boise, Belinda Vincent of Caldwell, Idaho, Debbie Hartman of Montrose, Colorado, Daniel Nystrom of Martinez, California, David Nystrom of Richmond, California, Jeannie Horton, Barbara Combes and Jimmy Combes all of Nampa, Idaho, and Bob and Randy Combes of Boise; step-grandchildren Monte Nystrom of Paradise, California, Cheri Stowers of Seattle, Jan Nystrom of Phoenix and Jack Nystrom of Box Elder, Montanan and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held November 22 at Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise, with burial in Cloverdale Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in Mr. Combes’ name may be made to Boise Valley Adventist School Fund, 1115 Cloverdale Road, Boise, Idaho 83713. All arrangements were handled by the Frey Funeral Home of Wickenburg.
