The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ November 30, 1994, p. 2 Vern L. Short, 76, of Wickenburg died November 24 in Wickenburg. Mr. Short was born July 19, 1918 in Durango, Colorado. He had lived in Arizona for the past seven years, coming from Colorado. Mr. Short was a Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy, retiring after 20 years. He and his brother, Merle were partners in a ranch in Colorado until their retirement 10 years ago. Mr. Short was a member of the Fleet Reserve Retirement Association. He is survived by two sisters, Mary Beaston of Durango, Colorado and Eunice Walsh of Sun City; three brothers, Merle Short of Wickenburg, and Oran and Lyle Short of Durango; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be no local services. Contributions in Mr. Short’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Frey Funeral Home in Wickenburg handled all local arrangements.
