Robert Dempsey King of Wickenburg died December 6 in Wickenburg. He was 64.
Mr. King was born May 17, 1930 in Amarillo, Texas. He had lived in Arizona for the past six months.
Mr. King founded and was the owner of the Apache Trucking Co. in Tracy, California. He was a past member of the Steering Committee of the Rodeo Cowboy Association, before it became the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association. Mr. King was a member of the AQHA and raised champion miniature horses.
He had background in law enforcement, attending the FBI Academy at Texas A &M. He was a deputy in Childress, Texas and was also a deputy in Avondale.
Survivors include his wife Kathleen A. King; daughter Debra Sozzi and husband Larry of Pleasanton, California; son Robert Jr. and wife Cindy of Tracy, California; step-children Deborah Van Leuwen of Modesto, California and Paul Smith of Santa Clara, California; mother Mable King of Avondale; sisters Loretta King of Glendale, Joyce Goblirsch of Modesto, Helen D’Antoni of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Dolores Marin of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held December 9 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wickenburg. Pastor Ed Wessling officiated. Burial followed in the Wickenburg Cemetery.
Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home handled all arrangements.
