JOHNSON, Joann


Joann Johnson, age 80 of Mesa, Arizona died 8 January, 2004 at home surrounded by her family. She was born 4 May, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Don and Alta Brinton. She married Kenneth E. Johnson on 16 June 1943 in the LDS temple in Cardston, Alberta, Canada. She and her husband, lived in Minneapolis until 1950. During the Korean War, she, as the wife of an Army medical officer lived in such places as Fort Riley, Kansas, Washington, D.C., Tacoma, Washington and Yokohama, Japan. In 1954, the family settled in Idaho Falls, Idaho and then in 1957 moved to the Phoenix area. She has been a devoted wife and mother. She served in the LDS church faithfully in the Sunday School, Primary and Relief Society organizations for many years and was always noted for giving the perfect gift to family and friends. Noteworthy were her talents in home interior decorating, again for family and friends. She is survived by her husband, three sons, Kenneth, Jr. and Mark of Mesa, Arizona, and Don of Santa Rosa, California; sisters Donna Buckmiller Elaine Holden and Myrle Tattersall; 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandsons. Visitation was Wednesday, January 14th at Bunker's Garden Chapel 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa. Services were held Thursday at the Mesa 18th Ward Chapel 2228 E. Brown Road, Mesa.
