Alton Ladd Gardner, 89, died Friday, October 7, 2005 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born on January 27, 1916 in Delta, Utah and resided in Phoenix for 45 years.
He was a naval aviator during World War II, retiring in 1954, and began a second career as an air traffic controller with the FAA. He retired again in 1974 with 35 years combined military and federal service.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Gertrude W. Gardner.
Survivors include his daughters, Daryl (Richard) Mancinelli of Roseville, Calif. and Carol (Reginald) Matz of Sandia Park, N.M.; grandsons, Troy (Cheryl) Mancinelli of Longwood, Florida and Brook (Alison) Mancinelli of Orinda, Calif.; great-grandson, Neon Mancinelli of Longwood, Florida; brothers, Ulysses S. Gardner of Alpine, Utah, Ralph V. Gardner of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Dee Ray Gardner of Elko, Nevada.
Services will be Saturday, October 15, 2005 at 11 am at Hansen Chapel, 8314 N. 7th St. with visitation one hour before. Interment following the service will be at Resthaven Park Cemetery, Glendale, Ariz. Arrangements by Hansen Mortuary.
