SANCHEZ, Ricardo Jose, Sr.


Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Friday, March 11, 2011 Ricardo Jose Sanchez Sr., 60, of Flagstaff, died Tuesday, March 1, 2011, while visiting his daughter in South Dakota. He was born Sept. 22, 1950, in Flagstaff. Mr. Sanchez graduated early from Flagstaff High School in 1968 and then enlisted in the United States Army. After successfully completing one tour, he re-enlisted and was stationed at Fort Buckner, Okinawa, Japan, and served in the Vietnam War. He proudly received an honorable discharge for his commitment to his country. Mr. Sanchez was a kind and loving father and wonderful teacher. He enjoyed life, making every day joyful and giving generously of himself. His family and friends will remember him for his love and his strength. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his siblings, Carlos (Alberta), Romolo (Jean), Pedro Jr (Yolanda), Tina, Lisca and Anna; aunt Ramona Otero; and his beloved adult children, grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, as well as his extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Sr. and Refugia Sanchez; and brother James E. Hake. Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m., at Norvel Owens Mortuary, 914 E. Route 66.
