Arthur Richard Turk (Poppy/Uncle Art to many who knew and loved him) went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 8, 2011, at the age of 90 at The Good Samaritan Village in Prescott, Ariz. He was born Sept. 30, 1920, in Alliance, Ohio, to John and Rose Turk.
He married Betty Jane Barcus on Sept. 5, 1942. He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Motorola in Phoenix. He loved playing golf and pool with friends. He was a long time member of Sunnyslope and Prescott Christian churches.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Betty Turk; a son, Ken Turk (wife Pamela); sister Shirley Kline (Bob) of Alliance, Ohio; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a son, TSgt. Bill Turk, USAF.
Graveside services will be at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 6290 W. Northern Ave., Glendale, Ariz., at 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2011. A memorial service will be at a later time and place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Good Samaritan Village Prescott, Ariz. and the American Heart Association.
