Lora Ann Harper, age 54, a native West Virginian and a long-time resident of Needles, Calif. and Mohave Valley, Ariz., passed away on Monday, February 28, 2011 in Fort Mohave, Ariz.
She was born on January 4, 1957, in Bluefield, W. Virginia, the daughter of the late, Blake and Lois Farmer.
Lora moved to Mohave Valley in 2004 from Needles, Calif., and worked as an Associate Realtor with Pioneer Land & Realty until she became ill in 2010. During that time, she served on the Board of Directors of the Mohave Valley Chamber of Commerce as a Director, Secretary, and Vice President, and was also active with the VFW and American Legion.
Also preceding her in death was one brother, Steven Farmer.
Lora is survived by her life companion, Scott Straight of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; son, Tyler Fender; two brothers, Jerry (Edna) Farmer of Chicago, Ill., and Darrell (Becky) Farmer of Vernon, W.Va.; five sisters, Charlotte Davis, Jamie (Paul) Frye, Nancy (Ron) Holbrook, and Melissa Famer of Logan, W.Va., Marlene (Fern) Frye of Harts, W.Va.; and a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind loving and devoted friends that she thought of as family - their generosity, love and kindness will always be appreciated: Roy and Ruth Straight, Ken and Jolene Brinley, Emma Jean Watson, and Jennifer and Patric Wilson.
Lora's family also wants to thank the wonderful people with Hospice Compassus for their compassionate and loving care of Lora during the last days of her illness.
