SMITH, Nellie

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Friday, March 11, 2011 Nellie Smith of Peeples Valley, Ariz., passed away on Feb. 21, 2011. Nellie was born Jan. 8, 1921, in Akron, Ohio, to James and Elizabeth Beatson. She moved to Bagdad, Ariz., in 1952 and lived there for 30 years. Nellie was passionate about her family, and was an avid hiker. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in Bagdad in 1978, and was also active in the Daughters of the British Empire. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, H.W. Smith; daughters Sheila Smith and Moira Blanton; six grandchildren; one sister; and one brother. She was preceded in death by her son, Scott Smith, two sisters and one brother. A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Aztlan Masonic Lodge, 1028 Willow Creek Road, Prescott.
