OUIMETTE, Navona Martha

Navona Martha Ouimette, age 84, a 22 year resident of the Colville and Kettle Falls, WA, passed away on Sept 4, 2004 in Colville, WA. She was born on November 17, 1919 in Syracuse, New York, The daughter of Lannes and Myrtle (Barrett) Tuttle. Navona attended Potsdam Normal Business School. Navona married Leonard Hazard Ouimette on October 5, 1947 in Malone, New York, where they then resided for 8 years, then resided in Plattsburgh and worked at Plattsburgh Teacher's College as Secretary to Dean of Women. In 1955 they moved to Arizona after a brief stay at Ft. Huachuca, moved to Maryvale and worked for the Federal Bureau of Reclamation. They moved to Kettle Falls, WA in 1982 where Navona became active in the 4-H program as Treasurer to Leaders Council. She was also the Stevens County Dog Program Leader and later as the Cat Program Leader. She also was the Superintendent of the cat barn at the N.E. Washington Fair and served as director on the fair board. Navona was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard on April 24, 1999 and her brother Lannes Tuttle on Sept. 6, 1998. Navona is survived by her: sister, Margo Pomeroy, Scottsdale, AZ; brothers, Irving Tuttle, North Bangor, NY and Elwin Tuttle, Albuquerque, N.M. Funeral services were held Saturday, September 11, 2004 at the Sunland Mortuary in Sun City, Az. Graveside Services followed at the Sunland Memorial Park, Sun City, Az. Memorial contributions can be given to the Stevens County 4H. Published in The Arizona Republic on 9/11/2004.
