The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ March 1, 1995, p. 2 Robert William (Bill) Phelps, Sr. of Wickenburg died February 20 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix. He was 73. Mr. Phelps was born August 27, 1921 in Beardstown, Illinois. He was a longtime Wickenburg resident, moving here from Illinois in 1947. For 30 years, Mr. Phelps owned and operated the Unocal Service Station in Wickenburg. Prior to his retirement in 1991, he was manager of the Wickenburg Municipal Airport. He also served two terms on the Wickenburg Town Council. Mr. Phelps was a charter member of Wickenburg Elks Lodge No. 2160. Survivors include his wife Ann Phelps; son William Phelps; daughter Patricia Ann Crossland; sisters LaMoine Prochazka and Rozelle Fore of Wickenburg, and Elizabeth Little and Marge Hood of Illinois; granddaughters Tracy Kelly and Breanna Crossland; and grandsons Todd Phelps, Travis Phelps and Bradly Crossland. Services were held February 24 at Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home chapel. Burial followed in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Pastor Delbert Henderson officiated. Memorial contributions in Mr. Phelps’ name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2929 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85016. Brown’s Wickenburg Funeral Home handled all arrangements.
