Carl F. LaPat of Yarnell died March 7 in Prescott. He was 95.
Mr. LaPat was born February 26, 1900 in Columbus, Ohio. He had lived in Arizona for the past 27 years, coming here from California.
Mr. LaPat was a carpenter and handsaw sharpener. He was also one of the first bodybuilders and trained Jack LaLanne early in his career. He did pen and pencil artwork, and some of his pieces are on display in a museum in Northern California.
Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Tula LaPat of Yarnell; daughters Margie Pifer of Lucerne, California, Mary Trapani of Pleasant Hill, California, Pat Maffei and Carlena LaPat, both of San Francisco, and Ginny Benson of Los Angeles; sisters Helen LaPat and Gabriella Rockwell, both of California; brothers Jerome LaPat of Hammond, Indiana and George LaPat of Joshua Tree, California; 30 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Interment will take place at a later date in the Genung Cemetery in Peeples Valley.
Frey Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of all arrangements.
