Selma Rose Evanston-Renteria, age 54, 54-year resident of Mohave Valley, Ariz., passed away Sunday, March 13, 2011, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Selma was born July 24, 1956 in Parker, Ariz. She attended school in Needles, Calif., and at Sherman Indian School in Riverside, Calif. She worked for the City of Needles for 10 years, the Avi Hotel and Casino, and also FMIT Domestic Violence Program.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lolita Evanston; father, Jerry Evanston Sr.; brother, Vern Evanston; and two sisters, Geneva Evanston and Jean Ann Evanston.
Selma is survived by her husband of 30 years, Eliobardo Renteria; daughter, Linda Vesta, of Mohave Valley, Ariz.; four sisters, Kathy Neal of Topock, Ariz., Ada Evanston of Needles, Calif., Jolita Ameelyenah of Parker, Ariz., and Kim Wilder of Mohave Valley, Ariz.; four brothers, Gary Evanston of Tempe, Ariz., Levi Evanston of Needles, Calif., Jerry Evanston Jr. of Salt River, Ariz., and Jeffrey Evanston of Phoenix, Ariz.
Church services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2011, in the Tribal Gymnasium, located at 500 Merriman Avenue, Needles, Calif.
Immediately following the service, Selma will be taken to the Tribal Cryhouse for traditional services, at 700 Harrison, Needles, Calif.
A cremation will be held at 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 20, 2011, at 700 Harrison, Needles, Calif.
